Surveyor Dr. Gad Asorwoe Akwensivie, Esq. is a Ghanaian Landed Property Investment Adviser – legal practitioner, Valuer and researcher with over 20 years of local practice. He also has brief experiences from a number of countries including Australia, Azerbaijan, Burkina Faso, Canada, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Peru, Rwanda, Sierra-Leone, Togo, Tanzania, South Africa, The Netherlands, The United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States of America. Gad is the Principal Partner of Felix Dzubey and Company, Valuers, Surveyors, Landed Property Consultants and Developers.
Gad worked at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in the Office of the Administrator of Stool Lands for 23 years – from August 1999 to September 2023 where he rose to the rank of Deputy Chief Stool Lands Officer. Gad has over 50 publications on land in Ghana to his credit. Some of his books include: An Introduction to Customary Land Secretariats in Ghana, Handbook on Land, Property & Estate Management in Ghana and Buying Land and Property in Ghana. His work helped to understand recent trends in large-scale land-based Investments in Ghana and helped to appreciate the Ghanaian’s attitude towards pollution of rivers and water bodies in Ghana. He also helped to understand the impact of the World Bank funded Ghana Land Administration Project and why Mortgage Institutions have not functioned well in Ghana. His works in progress include books titled: Inside the Office of the Administrator of Stool Lands, Alternative Dispute Resolution for Land People and The Management and Administration of Customary Lands in Ghana.
From January 2010 to June 2016, Gad was the Board Chair of the Ghana Public Servants Housing Loan Scheme and from September 2008 to June 2016 member of the National Multi-stakeholder Group on the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GhEITI). He is currently a Board Member of the Africa Cancer Organization and the founder of the Journal of Business and Estate Management Research (JBEMR).
Gad is a member in good standing of the Ghana Bar Association. He is also a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors, Member of the African Real Estate Society, Member of the Commonwealth Association Surveyors and land Economy, Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the International Federation of Surveyors. He is currently the President of the African Real Estate Society, Ghana.
Gad’s areas of specialization include, Private Public Partnerships, land law, real estate law, international business law, securities law, corporate governance, corporate finance, and international trade law among others.
Dr. Gad Akwensivie has recently been appointed the Administrator of Stool Lands Ghana.
Gad has a PhD in Real Estate Finance, MSc. in Environment & International Development, MBA Finance, BSc. Land Economy and LLB (Laws) degrees from the University of Leicester, University of East Anglia, Norwich and the London College of Management Studies all in the United Kingdom, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology and Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration Law Faculty in Ghana. He also has a Qualifying Law Certificate from the Ghana School of Law and is a scholar of the American Cancer Society University. Gad loves hiking, reading, farming and charity work.
